When a user is inside filter/variable page of dashboard, then there is only one way to go one step back i.e Cancel button which is located in the bottom. The better approach should be, once a user enter filter/variable inside filter & variable mapping, then in the breadcrumb notation it should be converted to hyperlink so that user can go back by clicking on that
